On April 1, 2025, the Foundation for mRNA Medicines and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Center hosted a screening of the film, “THE MESSENGER: A Story of MRNA,” presented by Inside Tomorrow. The film aims to connect scientists, policymakers, and the public to explore how mRNA technology is revolutionizing medicine.

The film tells the story of mRNA technology through interviews with Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman, winners of Nobel Prize in medicine in 2023, and other leading scientists who contributed to the developments in this field. The film seeks to build public trust in science and inspire the next generation of innovators by delving into an incredible page in the history of science and how this groundbreaking work is bringing a new era of revolutionary cures.

Following the film, Jeff Coller (Johns Hopkins) moderated an engaging fireside discussion with Andy Geall (Replicate Bioscience),  Liz Jaffee (Johns Hopkins), Sarah Owermohle (STAT News), and Steve Usdin (BioCentury) about how the core themes in the film connect to the challenges we face today.
